Inside Soccer iQ: Kylie's Personal Journey Coaching at IQ

Hi my name is Kylie Worthing. I play club soccer for the Michigan Hawks and I am a starting player on Varsity at Davison High School. I have recently started interning at Soccer IQ along with training there. Here’s how Soccer IQ has helped me improve my game and is helping prepare myself for college.

I have recently begun learning how to coach. It has been incredibly transformative. Coaching has not only taught me more about the game but it has also made me more confident. It has tremendously improved my game. My communication skills have improved so much. I have become a more vocal leader on the team, I’m even the person my coach comes to if he wants to relay a message to my teammates. It has also helped me improve my technical abilities. It has made me go back to my basic skills that I have almost forgotten the importance of. It has also helped me realize how I can get better with the skills I need to improve on. Additionally coaching provides me with valuable feedback about my game and has helped me learn more about the game. Soccer IQ has improved my game tremendously in many ways and I am very thankful for the opportunities they have offered me.

The training at Soccer IQ has helped me tremendously. I have always been a player who would use my athleticism rather than using any skill. If I was in a 1v1 situation I would try to run past the girl and typically get around her, when I moved to play ECNL at the Hawks that became much harder. The girls I’m playing against are very skilled and also athletic. When training with IQ they really encouraged me to work on my confidence on the ball and my foot work in general. There were some moments I got so frustrated with myself because I couldn’t do the drill the way I wanted to, which has really helped me adjust my mindset and look at the things I have done and accomplished, even if it wasn’t the way I wanted it to look. The training has also helped me gain confidence on the ball. Instead of just trying to use my athleticism to get around girls I also use skills that have been developed and I have confidence to use because of the support and help I gained at IQ.
